This book of Beka Lamb is great for young people since it deals with the life of a teenager. It shows the different challenges, experiences and changes Beka faces as a teenager. One theme is maturity , which Beka was in the process of. This was show by Beka's interest in what ws going on in her colony and even by her regret of not going to the meeting with her granny.Also, another theme was friendship, which was displayed between Beka and her deceased friend, Toycie. In thisadolescence stage ,Beka had to face this issue of death, with her close friend , which was very difficult.
